React, the Javascript framework by Facebook, is one of the most popular options today for building fast, scalable, maintainable user interfaces for web and mobile. This training workshop will expose you to the basic concepts of how React works and how to get started through a comprehensive series of lectures and hands-on workshops. By the end of the day, you will have learned the fundamentals of the framework and implemented a real React application.

The presenters have developed React applications for large-scale Fortune 500 companies as well as lean startups, so you will have the opportunity to learn how React can benefit your organization, big or small. You’ll hear about best-practices, potential pitfalls, and next steps to ensure you succeed as a React developer.

Prerequisites:

  • Attendees should have a solid understanding of modern Javascript (ES2015) in order to get the most out of this training. (let/const, arrow functions, promises, etc).

Trainer Bios:
Jake Partusch, Principal Technologist

Jake has over seven years of technology experience and has been with OPI for three years, working out of our Omaha office. Jake loves all things JavaScript and has worked on several Node.js, Angular and React web applications. Most recently, Jake has been building a React and Material-UI application with an AWS serverless backend. Jake earned his BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Mike has over ten years of technology experience and has been with OPI for four years, working out of our Omaha office. He is a full-stack developer with experience in the finance, government/defense, and healthcare IT industries. Working with Java, Groovy, Kotlin, React, and Angular, he builds custom solutions for clients while also translating his experience into training/mentoring opportunities. Over the years, work has taken him all over the country and even internationally, giving him a broad perspective on software development. Mike earned his BS in Computer Engineering with a Computer Science minor from Iowa State, and his Master’s in Software Engineering from Penn State.
