A continuous learner that stumbled my way into technology.
Upon completion of high school, I had no clue what I wanted to do so I promptly joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves serving between 2010-2016 as an Ammunition Technician reaching the rank of corporal (E-4). While in the Marine Corps I pursued a criminal justice career actually having internships with police departments. A year out of getting my B.A. in criminal justice I decided that I’m going back to school for computer science at Kansas State University (KSU).
While at Kansas State University, I was involved with Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Steel Ring. Creating multiple events for students and the community (STEM nights, Open House, tutoring sessions, etc). I received my first internship in 2016 in my second semester at KSU with a government contractor, SAIC. I had two internships at SAIC before my internship at Cerner which resulted in a full-time offer. I completed my degree in 2018.
After graduation, I went to work for Cerner a healthcare EHR company. Missing the involvement I had at KSU, I started teaching at LaunchCode, a non-profit free coding boot camp and mentoring new hires at Cerner. Loving the healthcare space, I left Cerner for Rx Savings Solutions (RxSS), like GoodRx but for insurance providers. At RxSS, I worked on an R&D team determining what technologies we could use growing for the future (Microservice focused). Now I find myself part of the Improving community and I’m excited by all the good we can do together.
I hold an A.A.S in Criminal Justice, B.S. in Computer Science, and looking forward to pursuing a certificate in ML, before applying to graduate school, while here at Improving! While not at work or school you can find me spending time with my wife and daughter. If you have questions, please reach out.
